rain on me

A certain tiny little someone peeks at my handphone, sees a photo of a certain other someone.

I want to talk to uncle nathan!
Auntie eunice also wants to talk to him, but he's far far away you know? He's so far away we can't talk to him.
..I want to see uncle nathan i want to see uncle nathan!
I know..i also want. Auntie eunice is very sad you know.
Oh..i hug yooo!

Sometimes. The best comfort can come in a certain tiny little voice.

As one of my main purposes in life currently is to record anna's cute childhood behaviour, here goes.

Anna went swimming on saturday. Anna met a small boy around her age, who, according to Christine, was Indian, had large eyes and was rather handsome for his age. So they finally made eye contact, with many previous sidelong glances by anna, and went to play! They gathered flowers from the bushes near the pool, put them in the little boy's toy pot to cook, played straight for an hour (and if you know anna she has quite a short attention span) and she said 'see you again!' to him as way of farewell. How romantic!

Ever since, everytime i ask her if she wants to go swimming, there will always be an eager 'yes yes yes!', sometimes with an emphatic nodding of head. There was always the subjective 'yes', 'no', 'donwant' previously so this makes for a very interesting discovery.

Anna went swimming alone with me on sunday again.

I guess i have that little boy to thank :)

Her favourite word today was 'donwant' at the dinner table though.

Anna, you want to eat carrots?
Donwant (shake head with hair swishing about)
You want mushrooms?
Donwant (hair goes swish swish swish)
How about some green veggies?? (this time a bit desperately)
Donwant (hair swishes so much it goes swoosh swoosh swoosh instead)

You want to find your way into her heart for now, you buy her honeystars. Lots and lots of honeystars.

The house is awfully quiet without anna around. Everybody (and that means my parents and i) misses her. She has gone to stay for a few days at her other grandma's house.

In fact, my dad misses her so much that he has taken to talking to me in his 'anna' voice.

"Ah eunice...if you finish all your rice i'll give you one biscuit ok"

-.-

Infuriating...but strangely. I miss being daddied like that. :)

Christine (frustrated): Anna! Can you just be a good girl?!!
*long pause
Anna: Cannort.

Ahhh i miss her...and i miss dory.

Coming to your very last 4 months in school can be very scary. So much to research, analyse, compare and contrast - and i'm not talking about just school work here!

Dear Job. Appear at the right time, satisfy me, don't give me any colleagues who's a snob.

Dear School. Make my last four months here a very happy one, don't make me (snore and) drool.

Dear Pilates. Gimme a nice toned tummy and pair of legs and improved posture, so i can keep drinking my lattes. :)

Dear dory. Please keep bringing me back to east coast to talk whenever i feel unhappy, i don't mind even if it's in a lorry.

If you don't, i'll make you sorry. :p

...

And after that bad excuse of poetry, i'll take me off in glee!

Of all the paintings portraying Daniel in the lions' den this is my very favourite.

A picture speaks a thousand words.

I think what went on today made me realise how much i have been taking people for granted, or how i've been honing myself to see the worse side in people. While still not altogether optimistic or upbeat about what's to come, it cannot be denied that God still is in control of everything.

He allows stuff to happen for a reason, and although it still stings, now i have to make good the reason.

As you can see, the knock our car received made the bumper nearly drop off. I thank God for sparing everybody in the car from any harm and for the car behind to have been going slowly enough. My whole family (except my sister and mengjet and me) was in the car, they were on their way back from a wedding where anna was flowergirl. And it gives me the shivers to think of what might have been if i had picked up a call to the worst possible news. I thank God too for sparing nathan samuel and junhao (in separate accidents) and allowing them to cheat death.

I know i may be making a big hooha over nothing but. Please don't ever speed or get angry or impatient and vent it on the roads. I would rather be in auntiedom while in the driver's seat.

More anna updates where i think she really looks so sweet waving her flowergirl bouquet and the balloons i made for her. I need to learn how to twist new balloon shapes!

Christine: Anna, what sound does a sheep make?
*long long pause
Anna (very gravely): I donno. (..and equally gravely slides off the chair and walks away)

Daddy: Dear God, we thank You for the food. We want to pray for Esther...
Anna (eyes shut very tight, hands clasped together): ..pray for Esther...
Daddy: and we also want to pray for baby elliot and that You will bless this time..
Anna (eyes shut not so tight, hands clasped together): ..pray for baby elliot...bless this time... (opens her eyes, sneaks a green pea from the bowl into her mouth and clasps her hands back together again)

Honestly. I think i will die from laughing at anna too much one day.

I would like to think of life as sweet and simple. Ideally of course. Knowing how wrong decisions are made sometimes though, it can get ugly.

2007 has been an eventful one. Name the negative stuff, i dunnit. Name the valuable stuff learnt in the process though, i got it too.

If anything, retain the valuable lessons. Scourge out all the hurts, anger, betrayals.

A reminder:
Love has a life when it is secure
Dying when it is doubting
Dead when it cannot trust.

God...help me learn to trust again.

Help us get through this.
